Summer is officially here in the Philippines!

And what’s the best way to kick off the summer heat? The beach, of course!

Yes, the annual company outing was held on March 31 to April 1, 2012 and this time at Munting Buhangin Beach Camp, in Nasugbu, Batangas, a coastal town about 100 km from Bio-Tech Environmental’s main office in Pasig City, Metro Manila.

Inspired by the American reality game show, Survivor, and Hollywood box-office hit The Hunger Games, this year’s summer activities, dubbed as Bio-Tech Olympics 2012, included sweat-drenching and mentally-exhausting challenges which only the toughest and most cunning contenders were crowned victors.

During the Opening Ceremonies, four teams – known as the Tributes – paraded their respective colors: Blue, Green, Yellow, and Red. Each team was composed of Pest Management Technicians and headed by an Area Manager. This was followed by the lighting of the torches (the Flame of Glory) where representatives of each team mimicked the traditional torch relay of the Olympics. The Games was officially opened by Bio-Tech Environmental’s General Manager, Mr. Hector Binwek.

Mutya ng Munting Buhangin 2012
Winners of the Mutya ng Munting Buhangin 2012

No time was wasted during the first night of the Olympics as teams directly competed in three outdoor events including the classic beach game, Limbo Rock. The highlight of that night was the search for the “Mutya ng Munting Buhangin 2012”. Four gorgeous “ladies” vied for the crown through series of competitions that showcased their talents, grace, and intelligence. At the end of the day, it was Ms. Ara Maja Rot (Namer Bele) of the Red Team who brought the house down and crowned the first ever Mutya.

It was a day that witnessed talents of our pest exterminators beyond solving client’s problems related to termites and other urban pests.  Read more about the next day’s activities as stamina and teamwork of our Pest Control Professionals were tested.
